Westline Industrial Warehouse

Westline's distribution warehouse was losing conditioned air through a failing built-up roof, and surface temperatures on the deck were running high enough to shorten everything above the ceiling. The brief was thermal performance first and watertightness second.

A reflective single-ply re-cover with upgraded insulation and zinc-trimmed perimeter details.
The existing build-up was retained where it was sound and overlaid with tapered insulation to correct three ponding areas that had never drained. A reflective TPO membrane was mechanically fixed over the top, with zinc trims at every parapet and upstand. Forty-two rooflights were replaced with triple-skin units.

Working through a Phoenix summer meant membrane welding was limited to the first six hours of the day, so the programme was built around a short shift and a large crew. The reflective finish dropped measured deck temperature by more than thirty degrees, which is where most of the energy saving came from.
