Roof Repair & Preventive Maintenance

Service Overview

Most roofs are replaced years before they need to be, because a detail that could have been repaired for a few hundred was left for three winters. Steelcrest's maintenance programme is built around the four things that actually fail — flashing, valleys, penetrations and drainage — checked twice a year and repaired while they are still small.

What a maintenance visit covers

Twice a year, before and after the weather that does the damage:

  • Gutters, downpipes and valleys cleared and tested
  • Flashing checked at every chimney, wall and penetration
  • Loose, cracked and missing units replaced
  • Loft inspection for daylight, damp and stained felt
  • A written report with photographs of anything found

Repairs, before they stop being repairs

A leak found in its first season costs a flashing repair. The same leak found in its third has usually taken the decking, the insulation and the ceiling with it — and water never sits where it enters, so the damage is always larger than the fault that caused it.

  • Leak tracing by water test, not by guesswork
  • Localised decking replacement where boards have softened
  • Flashing re-dressed rather than sealed over
  • Fixed-price repairs quoted from the report
